The HUPX spot markets closed 2023 with exceptional performance
On the HUPX Day-Ahead Market (DAM), the total traded volume reached 26.050 GWh. December stood out with a 34% increase in turnover compared to the same month of the previous year. In 2023, the growing photovoltaic (PV) generation significantly impacted prices of the HUPX DAM, since HU PV production achieved over 35% growth.
The Intraday Market (IDM) presented a 58% increase in 2023with 6.850 GWh annual traded volume. In June, the monthly volume of the HUPX IDM nearly doubled compared to 2022, reaching 671 GWh, marking an outstanding performance among Central and Eastern European power exchanges.
The Hungarian Power Exchange also experienced considerable growth in membership. In 2023, 15 new members joined the Intraday Market, and 14 newcomers strengthened the Day-ahead Market, nearly doubling the number of new entrants of 2022.
